Sabres take 'Ruff' loss in Dallas

DALLAS -- "No goal." Twice. That was the ruling against the Buffalo Sabres Thursday night against the Dallas Stars. A Buffalo challenge of a Dallas goal fell through, as well.

The score of the Sabres/Stars game could have very well been 5-3 Buffalo but three goal reviews that went Dallas' way made for a 4-3 final in favor of the Stars.

The Sabres believed they had goals from Sam Reinhart and Zach Bogosian -- both in the third period, but review of those goals -- including one with just 11 seconds to play in regulation -- both proved inconclusive. A Stars' goal by Jamie Benn just 42 seconds into the period was challenged by Buffalo because Coach Dan Bylsma believed the Stars were offside. The Sabres lost that challenge, too.

As for goals the counted: The Sabres had goals from Evander Kane at 3:44 of the first period and 18:55 of the second period-- both unassisted, as well as a goal from Matt Moulson from Kane and Brian Gionta at 9:30 of the first period. Dallas had a pair of goals from Patrick Sharp and one from Tyler Seguin in addition to the Benn goal that Buffalo challenged.

The loss was the Sabres' first in four games.

Buffalo takes on the Canadiens in Montreal on Tuesday.
