WEST WINDSOR, NJ -- The Canisius rowing program had all of its boats advance to the semifinal round of the Knecht Cup, with the varsity eight and the varsity four advancing on Saturday, and the second varsity eight moving on, on Sunday. Despite not earning entry into the grand final, it was the first time that Canisius boats advanced at the prestigious regatta.
In the varsity eight semifinals, Alexandra Heinz, Shannon Pritzker, Sydney Bichsel, Mackenzie App, Tara Federow, Patricia Beaulieu, Brooke Stanley, Kathryn Hobika, and Misa Gamble were unable to advance to the grand finals, coming in seventh in the first heat with a time of 7:11.29.
The varisty four was also unable to advance to the final round, coming in sixth in the third semifinal heat, Liz DelBarba, Chanel Davis, Melissa Frank, Erin Grim, and Kaitlyn Taylor, finishing the course with a time of 8:13.22.
The second varsity eight, after moving on to the semifinals clocked in with a time of 7:24.95, wich placed the team seventh and halted the boats progress towards a final.
Canisius will spend Easter weekend on the road as the squad takes part in the Kerr Cup held in Philadelphia, Pa., on April 16.
