Cansius outdoor track wraps up Bucknell Classic

The Canisius outdoor track program wrapped up day two of competition from the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic, as junior Carlin Sullivan broke her second school record of the weekend, placing fifth in the 3k event with a time of 10:15.74.

The fourth school record set this weekend by the Golden Griffins, Sullivan overtook former Griff Heather Whalen’s 27-year-old time of 10:15.74.

The Blue and Gold saw other strong performances in the women’s 3k event, with sophomore Kayla Stewart placing 16th (10:47.66) and junior Rachael Weissenburg ending in 21st (10:51.93).

On the men’s side, sophomore Austin Oetinger placed 11th in the men’s 3k event with a time of 9:00.53, while teammates freshman Nicholas Neamtu (9:07.65) and senior Arrane Page-Rispoli (9:16.61) finished inside the top twenty with 14th and 19th place finishes respectively.

Also running well for the men was senior Cooper Roach who ran to an eighth place finish in the 800 meter event with a time of 1:52.69.

Roach’s time was the fourth fastest 800 meter run in Canisius history, qualifying him for the IC4A Championship in May.

The Griffs will have nearly two weeks to prepare for their next event, taking part in the Penn Relays from Philadelphia, Pa. on April 27.
