Cichon to kick off campaign for Erie county clerk

CHEEKTOWAGA -- Former WBEN News Director Steve Cichon will officially announce his candidacy for Erie County Clerk at 11 a.m. Saturday on the steps of Cheektowaga Town Hall.

The 39-year-old has spent the last four years as an adjunct professor at Medaille College and primary contributor to Buffalo Stories LLC, which shares a PO box with Cichon's campaign committee. A registered Democrat, he lives in North Buffalo with his wife Monica and is actively involved in St. Mark Roman Catholic Church and the Parkside community.

While Saturday's announcement makes his candidacy official, he's been discussing the run for several weeks. A Facebook page for Cichon's candidacy has garnered 913 followers in just over a month. A post from that page explaining his decision to get into the race follows:
