Four charged in Livingston County meth ring bust


ROCHESTER -- Four defendants were arrested and charged by criminal complaint with operating a methamphetamine conspiracy in Livingston County.

Kurt Redance, 26, Kenneth Hoag, 55, both of Dansville; Brandie Schumacher, 37, of Rose; and Andrew Culliton, 37, of West Seneca, were charged with possession with intent to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine and conspiracy to possess and distribute methamphetamine. The charges carry a minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of life and $10,000,000 fine. In addition, defendants Redance and Hoag were charged with maintaining a drug involved premises. Redance also faces a charge of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine on a premises where a child was located.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Katelyn M. Hartford, who is handling the case, stated that according to the complaint, each of the defendants sold methamphetamine to a confidential source. The sales were made at The Bone Yard, a scrap yard and mechanic workshop on  State Highway 36 , in Dansville, which is owned by defendant Hoag; at the Spring Road South residence of defendant Redance, also in Dansville; and at a parking lot in West Seneca. Redance’s three-year-old child was present during at least one of the controlled purchases at his residence.  

The defendants made initial appearances before U.S. Magistrate Judge Marian W. Payson. Redance, Schumacher, and Culliton are being held; Hoag was released to home detention with electronic monitoring.
