UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Three Western New York students enrolled at John Carroll University participated in a study abroad opportunity in Italy offered by the university's Classical and Modern Languages and Cultures during Spring Break in March.
In all, 27 students traveled to Sicily and Rome as part of the course, "Literary Parks: The Mosaic of Sicily." The class visited places representative of the materials covered in class, including churches and museums. Among the highlights of the trip were visits to the Valley of the Temples and the house and burial place of the Nobel Laureate writer, Luigi Pirandello, in Agrigento. The study abroad experience concluded in Rome, where students went on a walking tour that included St. Peter's Basilica and the Jesuit Church of Saint Ignatius and Church of Gesu.
