NU track and field ends season with local invite

BUFFALO -- The Niagara Purple Eagles conclude their regular season competing at the UB Invitational on Saturday. The field events start at 11 a.m. and the track events 1 p.m.
 
Maggie Gerard and and Morgan Palmer won the shot put and discuss throw, respectively, to give Niagara 19 points at the Wolfie Invitational hosted by Stony Brook University. Gerard set a personal best with a 12.07m toss in the shot put, while Palmer broke her own school record in the discuss (41.05m).hed second in the shot put with a personal-record toss (11.81m) and Erin Clark finished with a personal best toss of 8.23m. Gerard also finished fifth in the discus (33.97m). Jamie Guadagno placed seventh in the long jump (4.81m). Morgan Palmer set a school record in the discus throw en route to claiming first place in the event at the SUNY Geneseo Early Season Invite. Palmer's fourth throw went 40.95m. Sophomore Maggie Gerard finished seventh in the discus throw with a personal best of 34.40m. Freshman Elizabeth Suhay had a top-10 placement in the long jump. Suhay finished 10th (4.81m). Three Purple Eagles – Jamie Guadagno, Maggie Gerard and Alex Laubert - finished in the top-10 in their respective events at the 22nd Annual Monmouth Season Opener. Jamie Guadagno placed ninth in the long jump (4.75m), Maggie Gerard finished the shot put in ninth place (11.82m), and freshman Alex Laubert ran the 100m hurdles in 16.62 which was good enough for eighth place.
