STOCKTON -- A 36-year-old Stockton man was charged Friday with first-degree criminal contempt, criminal obstruction of breathing, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment after a report of an assault.

According to New York State Police, Troopers responded to a residence in Stockton for a report of a male assaulting a female. Investigation revealed that Steven Stablewski went to the female’s residence in violation of a stay-away order and got into a physical altercation with the protected party and a male subject, causing minor injuries to both, all in the presence of a young child.

Stablewski was placed under arrest, processed at SP Jamestown and arraigned in the Town of Charlotte Court before being remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Stockton Court on a later date.
