UB men's tennis caps roadtrip with 6-1 win at Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio – Just two days after knocking off Western Michigan, the University at Buffalo men's tennis team won at Toledo, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls improved to 9-5 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the MAC with the win.

The Bulls wasted little time taking the doubles point as Petr Vodak and Villhelm Fridell and Tony Miller and Ethan Nittolo won their respective doubles matches, 6-3.

Buffalo continued to roll in singles action, winning five of the six matches. Vidit Vaghela made easy work of Vince Anzalone at two singles, winning 6-2, 6-3.

Villhelm Fridell and Petr Vodak also won in straight sets. Fridell defeated Serjen Olmedo, 6-2, 6-3, at four singles. Vodak beat Reid Teatsorth, 7-5, 6-1, at four singles.

At three singles, Filip Grbic dropped a tight first set, 7-6, to Luka Vitosevic, but rebounded to win the second set, 6-4. Grbic was up 2-1 in the third, before Vitosevic was forced to retire.

Finally, Ethan Nittolo beat Thawn Suksathaporn in three sets at six singles. Nittolo dropped the first set, 6-3, but cruised to a 6-1 win in sets two and three.

"This weekend is about as good of a weekend that we have had here at UB in the eight years I have coached," head coach Lee Nickell said. "For us to win at Western for only the second time in history, then turn around and win outdoors for the first time since October, is an outstanding effort by this young team. We now have a good bit of time to get refreshed and ready for the last matches of the season."

The Bulls have a bit of a break before next playing at Binghamton on April 19.
