Canisius' Evans named to IWLCA All-West/Midwest First Team

Junior Erica Evans has been selected as a member of the IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region First Team the association announced Friday afternoon.

Evans, who led the Nation in goals (76) entering Friday's contest, also ranked second in points (107) and third in ground balls (68) in the NCAA entering the game against No. 14 Boston College.

Named MAAC Midfielder of the Year for a third consecutive season, Evans had several career acheivements during the 2017 campaign, setting the Canisius career goals record, while also becoming the first junior in program history to reach 200 career points.

A three time All-MAAC First Team member, Evans broke her own single-season Canisius and MAAC records for goals and points, while also becoming the first player in school and conference history to reach the 100-point mark for a single season.

Evans led the Griffs to their second consecutive MAAC Championship this season, and has reached the Championship game in all three of her seasons with the Blue and Gold.

The first Tewaaraton Award semifinalist in conference history, Evans ends the 2017 season just two goals shy of tying the career goals mark for the MAAC and need six more points to tie the Canisius career points record.

For her career, Evans ranks 10th in the NCAA in goals and points among active players, one of only two juniors inside the top-10, and has the second highest goals-per-game (3.26) and third highest points-per-game (4.30) averages among any active player in the NCAA for their career.

The IWLCA has honored 128 student-athletes in Division I with a selection on one of the All-Regional teams for 2017. In addition to being named to the All-Regional Team, Evans is now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Wednesday, May 17. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American Banquet on Saturday June 3, 2017 at the Hunt Valley Inn in Hunt Valley, Md.
