Local students graduate from St. Lawrence University

CANTON -- More than 600 students received their bachelor degrees from St. Lawrence University during Commencement ceremonies held on May 21 in Canton, New York.

  • Nicholas P.R. Barclay of Pittsford. Barclay received the degree of bachelor of science cum laude and majored in mathematics. Barclay attended Pittsford Sutherland High School.
  • Mary Beth H. Benzing of Angola. Benzing received the degree of bachelor of science cum laude and majored in statistics and economics. Benzing attended Lake Shore Central Senior High.
  • Christyna M. Blood of Rochester. Blood received the degree of bachelor of science and majored in psychology. Blood attended Eastridge High School.
  • Timothy D. Brennan of Pittsford. Brennan received the degree of bachelor of arts and majored in economics. Brennan attended Pittsford Sutherland High School.

  • Cailand K. Sweeting of Hamlin. Sweeting received the degree of bachelor of science cum laude and majored in psychology. Sweeting attended Camden Hills Regional High School.
  • John H. Tank III of Buffalo. Tank received the degree of bachelor of science and majored in statistics. Tank attended Nichols School.
  • Daniel R. Viscardi of Brockport. Viscardi received the degree of bachelor of science cum laude and majored in biology. Viscardi attended Brockport High School.
  • Three honorary degree recipients spoke during St. Lawrence University's Commencement, including Republican U.S. Senator from Maine Susan Collins '75, president of The Eisner Foundation Jane (Breckenridge) Eisner '64, and former St. Lawrence University professor and current President of Wagner College Richard Guarasci. Director Emerita of the Adirondack Museum Caroline Mastin Welsh P'07 also spoke and received the University's North Country citation.
