Lockport man charged with drug possession

TOWN OF LOCKPORT -- A 19-year-old Lockport man was charged Tuesday with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal impersonation following a traffic stop.

According to New York State Police, Troopers stopped a vehicle on SR-31 for an expired inspection sticker. A strong odor of marijuana was emanating from the vehicle during the traffic stop, which resulted in the vehicle and its occupants being searched. Jaquan Wright, who was in the rear passenger seat, identified himself with someone else's name and was found in possession of a plastic bag containing crack cocaine. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Lockport barracks for processing.

Wright was arraigned in the Town of Lockport Court and was remanded to the Niagara County Jail on $5000/$10,000 bail bond.
