Gerry woman charged with drug possession, drugged driving following traffic stop

STAFF REPORTS

JAMESTOWN -- A 59-year-old Gerry woman was charged Friday with driving while ability impaired by drugs, obstructing governmental administration, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a non-original container and unlawful possession of marijuana.

According to New York State Police, Mary Waechter was pulled over on Route 60 for a traffic violation and during the traffic stop, the Troopers observed Waechter concealing items between the center console and driver seat. When she refused verbal commands to cease her actions, Waechter was placed under arrest. A search of Waechter’s vehicle revealed a glass pipe containing methamphetamine residue, a loose Vicodin pill and a bag containing a gram of marijuana.

At SP Jamestown, Waechter failed multiple SFSTs and was subsequently evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert who determined Waechter was under the influence of a Central Nervous System stimulant. Waechter was then processed, issued appearance tickets and traffic tickets returnable to the town of Ellicott Court and released. Waechter is scheduled to appear in the town of Ellicott Court later in the month to answer the charges.
