Niagara women's lacrosse face Fairfield Thursday afternoon

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- The Niagara University women's lacrosse team resumes conference play when it battles the Fairfield Stags on Thursday, March 30. Opening draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium.


Last Time Out
  • The Purple Eagles closed out non-conference play on March 27, falling to Rutgers, 14-8.
  • Rachel MacCheyne led the team with three goals, while Alexis Morales and Caroline Crump each added two goals. Crump also had a team-best two assists.
  • In the net, Olivia Schroeder recorded four saves in over 41 minutes of work and Aubrey DeVeau made eight saves in about 19 minutes.

 On the Field: Niagara Purple Eagles (4-6, 1-0 MAAC)
  • MacCheyne leads the team in goals (32), points (40), shots (77) and draw controls (72).
  • Caroline Crump has a team-leading 10 assists for Niagara. She also has 23 goals and 31 total points so far this season.
  • Niagara leads the MAAC and is 12th in the nation in ground balls per game, averaging 21.60.
  • Schroeder (2-2) has logged over 351 minutes in net this season and has made 55 saves.

 On the Field: Fairfield Stags (5-4, 1-0 MAAC)
  • Fairfield opened MAAC play on March 24, earning an 18-8 victory at home against Siena.
  • The Stags come into the game leading the conference in goals per game (13.67), assists per game (5.89), points per game (19.56) and shots per game (31.78). Fairfield also leads the conference and is seventh in the nation in save percentage (.521).
  • Brenna Connolly has been the primary offensive catalyst for the team this season. After nine games, she leads the team in goals with 19 and in assists with 14.
  • Other offensive leaders include Kathleen Hulseman, who has 22 points for the Stags, and Olivia Russell, who has registered 18 goals this season.
  • Erin Mammele leads the team and is second in the conference in draw controls (68) and draw controls per game (7.56).
