Canisius baseball heads to West Virginia for mid-week game

The Canisius baseball program will head back to Morgantown, W. Va., Wednesday afternoon for the second time this season as the Griffs picked up a last minute non-conference contest with the Mountaineers due to weather cancelations for both squads originally scheduled games. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.

GETTING STARTED
• With his one hit on Sunday, senior Liam Wilson has reached base in all 31 games this season and 33 times in his last 34 games dating back to last year. Wilson's streak also includes an on-going 15 game hitting streak.
• Redshirt senior Christ Conley's on-base streak now stands at 21 straight games with his two walks on Sunday However, he snaps his 12-consecutive game hit streak.
• Junior Conner Morro continued his now 14-game consecutive on-base streak with two hits on Sunday.
• Junior Mark McKenna's consecutive game on-base streak has now reached the 10-game plateu with a hit by pitch Sunday.
• Senior Ryan Stekl has now appeared in 205 career games, tying him for seventh all-time in school history with Brian Burton ('11).
 
A LOOK BACK AT LAST WEEKEND
• The Griffs swept Iona in a three-game series by a combined score of 36-7.
• As a team, Canisius pounded out 37 hits in the series, including four home runs, 11 doubles and one triple.
• In the series, Morro led the charge with seven hits in 10 at-bats, three of which were doubles, totaling five RBI and five runs scored.  
• Redshirt sophomore William Krull and Stekl added four hits apiece as well.

ABOUT THE MOUNTAINEERS
• West Virginia is 16-17 on the year, holding a 7-4 record at home.
• Since facing Canisius Mar. 16-17, WVU has gone 7-8 overall. Most recently the team was tripped up in conference play Apr. 13-5 by Oklahoma State, dropping two out of three contests.
• The teams' offense has been led by junior Kyle Gray, who is producing a .336 batting average with 37 hits in 110 at-bats to go along with 16 RBI and 20 runs scored.   
• Redshirt sophomore Marques Inman and junior Darius Hill also provide an offensive punch batting .306 and .296, respectively.  

UP NEXT
The Griffs return back to the Buffalo for a three-game series with current MAAC leader, Quinnipiac at the Demske Sports Complex. First pitch on April 21 for the doubleheader is set for 2:30 with Sunday's conclusion starting at noon.
