Jamestown man charged with DWI

STAFF REPORTS

ANGELICA -- A 37-year-old Jamestown man was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop.

According to New York State Police, Troopers investigating a report of a vehicle driving erratically stopped Ruben Vargas on Interstate 86 eastbound after several V&T violations were observed. Upon interview, Troopers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage.  SFSTs were attempted and subsequently failed.

Vargas was arrested and transported to SP Amity for processing where he recorded a 0.17% BAC.  Due to a prior conviction of DWI within the previous ten years, Vargas was charged with a Felony.   He was arraigned before the Town of Friendship Court and remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $300 cash/$600 bond, and is due to appear before the Town of Angelica Court.
