UB basketball postseason celebration set for April 13 at Alumni Arena

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Following the most successful season in UB Basketball history, the men's and women's teams will be honored in a postseason celebration on Friday, April 13 at 5:30 pm at Alumni Arena. The event will be emceed by Paul Peck and will include members of the University and the Athletics community. The general public is invited to attend this free event and is encouraged to wear their blue and white.
Come out to Alumni Arena one last time to see your Bulls who had the best combined home record in the country this season, 26-1. The Bulls were the lone school in the nation to have just one combined home loss on the season.
Winners of their third Mid-American Conference Championship in the last four seasons, the men's basketball team won a school record 27 games while earning their first ever NCAA Tournament win as they downed Pac-12 Champion and #4 seed Arizona, 89-68.
Buffalo head coach Nate Oats was honored as the Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year while five other UB players, Jeremy Harris, CJ Massinburg, Nick Perkins, Wes Clark and Davonta Jordan, were honored with postseason MAC honors after their historic 2017-18 campaign. Massinburg, Perkins and Clark also notched their 1,000th career point during the memorable season.
After earning their first ever at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, the women's team put together a postseason run that will be remembered for years to come as they won a school record 29 games and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history. The Bulls opened the NCAA Tournament with a dominant 102-79 victory over #6 South Florida before handing #3 Florida State a 86-65 defeat to move onto Albany for the Regional round of the tournament.
The Bulls had several individual accomplishments during the season as three players, Stephanie ReidCierra Dillard and Cassie Oursler, earned Second Team All-MAC honors. UB also saw the same three players reach their 1,000 career point milestone during the season.
