Canisius' Judi Caserta named CABMA Manager of the Year

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Judi Caserta, Canisius' assistant athletic director for business operations, has been named the 2018 Collegiate Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA) Manager of the Year, it was announced at CABMA's annual awards breakfast Wednesday in Washington, D.C.
Caserta is the first person from a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) school to receive the honor, and she is just the eighth female to earn the award since it was first presented in 1966.
CABMA's Manager of the Year is chosen annually by the membership from nominations of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the profession of athletics business management and who are full CABMA members.
Caserta is entering her 30th year at Canisius and is responsible for the day-to-day business operations of the athletic department, including overseeing the individual budgets of the 20 Golden Griffin athletic teams, monitoring travel and recruiting expenses, providing compensation for officials and serving as liaison with the College's business office and human resources. Caserta received the title of assistant athletic director for business operations during the summer of 2012 and is also the sport supervisor for the rowing program.
After graduating from Canisius in 1980, Caserta served as the business manager of the family-owned Russo Chevrolet dealership until the business was sold in 1988. Caserta was hired as the Director of Accounting at Canisius in 1989 and was named the Athletic Business Manager the following year. During her tenure at the College, Caserta has served in many roles and capacities, including chairperson of the MAAC Women's Lacrosse Committee and the MAAC Finance Committee. She currently sits on the NCAA Intercollegiate Athletics Financial Reporting Advisor Committee.
Caserta received her Master of Science in Sport Administration in 2008 from Canisius. Her Masters' internship was serving as the General Chair of the 46th annual Porter Cup golf tournament in 2004. Away from Canisius, Caserta enjoys spending time with her family, golfing, cooking and singing the National Anthem at local sporting events. She resides in Youngstown, N.Y., with her husband, Tom ('77), and son, Anthony.
