UB student-athletes record 13th straight 3.0 semester

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- It was another impressive semester in the classroom for University at Buffalo student-athletes as they posted a combine 3.024 grade point average. It marked the 13th straight semester UB student-athletes have surpassed the 3.0 combined mark. 

Women's swimming and diving claimed the top spot for the spring semester with a 3.563 team grade point average. Men's tennis led all men's teams with a 3.111 GPA. Women's cross country had the most improved semester from the fall with a 3.543, followed by women's tennis (3.292) and wrestling (2.961).

Overall, 10 teams had a 3.0 grade point average or better – women's swimming and diving (3.563), women's cross country (3.543), women's soccer (3.314), women's tennis (3.292), women's track and field (3.215), volleyball (3.114), softball (3.113), men's tennis (3.111), men's cross country (3.104) and men's track and field (3.029). 

The department had 24 individuals with perfect 4.0 GPAs and 113 others that were 3.5 or better. In all, 230 of UB's 379 total student-athletes (61 percent) reached the 3.0 plateau.

"We are extremely proud of our consecutive semesters above 3.0," UB Senior Associate AD for Athletic & Academic Performance Donald Reed said. "It is a testament to our commitment to academic achievement. Congratulations to our student-athletes, coaches and staff."
