Canisius' Nolan Sheeran agrees to terms with Fayetteville Marksmen of SPHL

Nolan Sheeran action vs SHU 11-4-17BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Former Canisius forward Nolan Sheeran has agreed to terms with the Fayetteville (N.C.) Marksmen of the Southern Professional Hockey League for the 2018-19 season, the team announced on Friday.
 
Sheeran is the fourth member of the Golden Griffins' Class of 2018 to sign a professional contract upon the competition of their collegiate playing career, joining Ryan Schmezler (Adirondack Thunder/Binghamton Devils), Jack Stander (Atlanta Gladiators) and Jeff Murray (Brampton Beast).
 
A native of Buffalo, Sheeran appeared in 120 games during his four-year career with the Golden Griffins, compiling eight goals and 20 assists in those contests. As a senior, Sheeran chipped in one goal and four assists in 32 contests.
 
"It's an honor to have signed my first pro contract with the Marksmen," Sheeran said. "I'm thrilled to be moving forward with my career with such a high-class organization. Talking to Coach (Jesse) Kallechy has been great, and it's clear to see that we share a similar passion and outlook on the game."
 
Canisius posted a 19-17-2 overall record during the 2017-18 season, highlighted by a 17-11-0 mark in conference play as it claimed second place in the Atlantic Hockey standings. The Golden Griffins advanced to the semifinals of the AHC Tournament for the fifth time in the past six seasons before falling to eventual tournament champion and NCAA Regional finalist Air Force.
