NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- Niagara Purple Eagles men's soccer head coach Bill Boyle announced the addition of five players to the team's roster for the upcoming 2018 campaign. The team held its first practice today and is looking ahead to the first preseason contest against Mercyhurst on Aug. 15.

Dylan Avila, Forward, Mississauga, Ontario
"Dylan Avila comes to us from traditional powerhouse clubs North Mississauga and the Toronto-area Vaughan Azzurri," said Boyle. "Dylan won the Golden Boot in the National Canadian Cup and will add another dimension to our attack."

During his team's run in the National Canadian Cup, Avila registered seven goals in five outings to win the Golden Boot.

Drew Holt, Goalkeeper, Parkville, Maryland
"Andrew Holt comes from Baltimore Celtic," Boyle noted. "The Celtic are an USYSA team consistently ranked among the best teams in the country. Drew split minutes with another Division I goalkeeper and he has all the tools to play at this level."

Holt won the 2017 2A Maryland State Championship at Eastern Technical High School. His senior season earned him a First Team All Division pick, First Team All-County selection, First Team All-Metro honors, and First Team All State nod.

Matthew Mielnicki, Defense, Apia, Samoa
"Matthew Mielnicki comes from Vardar in Detroit," said Boyle. "We know that we got a well-coached disciplined defender in Matt coming from such a storied academy. Matt can play any position on the back line, and can even play forward if needed."

Mielnicki was a defensive back and wide receiver for the Oxford High School (Oxford, Mich.) football team. He was named the All-County Football Player of the Year and 2017 All-State MVP in his senior year. He also garnered All-State honors three times (2014, 2016, 2017) and was a four-time Special Teams Player of the Year (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017).

Luigi Boa Morte, Forward, Rio de Mouro, Portugal
"Luigi Boa Morte joins us from Next Level Academy in Portugal," Boyle stated. "Luigi has amazing speed and a very high ceiling for such a young player. We were excited to get Luigi this summer and add even more speed to our top four attacking positions."

Lucas Vecchio, Goalkeeper, Baldwinsville, New York
"Lucas Vecchio comes from Syracuse Development Academy and has trained with the Empire Academy and Bubby Leasure BLGK Academy," noted Boyle. "Lucas adds another level of focus to our goalkeeping core."

Vecchio earned NEID Elite All-Star recognition in 2016 and won a State Cup Championship in 2014.
