ALERT: Collins to stay on the ballot in #NY27

STAFF REPORTS

CLARENCE -- U.S. Rep. Chris Collins, the New York Republican accused of insider-trading charges, will remain on the ballot in the general election despite suspending his campaign, according to numerous sources.

Erie County GOP Chairman Nick Langworthy said during an afternoon news conference that Collins decision to stay on the ballot came at the advice of his own legal team. Republican Party officials have been working to get Collins replaced on the November ballot following the charges against him.

Collins will face off against Nate McMurray for the 27th Congressional District. It's unclear whether Collins would actively campaign against his Democratic rival, McMurray.
