Buffalo State women’s volleyball cruises past D’Youville

BUFFALO, N.Y.—Brooke Federko (Jamestown/Jamestown) finished with a career-high 25 assists and Eimile O'Brien(Marietta//Marcellus) tallied seven kills as Buffalo State earned its first victory of the season with a straight-sets win over D'Youville in tonight's non-conference contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Buffalo State started fast out of the gate with an 8-1 lead in the first set, picking up a victory in the opening set, 25-13.
  • The Spartans bounced back in the second set with a pair of back-to-back points to take a 7-4 lead.
  • The Bengals responded by winning eight of the next 10 points to retake the lead 12-9 and controlled the momentum to earn a 25-20 win in the second set.
  • Buffalo State completed the straight-sets sweep with a commanding 25-17 win in the third set.
  • Bryanna Fisher (Brooklyn/Midwood) chipped in six kills with a .500 attack percentage.
  • Hanna Cormier (Ford Edward/Warhill) finished with a team-high 11 digs with two aces.
 
FOR THE FOES

  • Carly Milleville and Talia Wright each finished with eight and seven kills respectively.
  • Desiree Walters chipped in 12 digs.

Buffalo State will travel to Schenectady, N.Y. to compete in the Union College Tournament this weekend. The Bengals will open with a pair of matches on Friday against host Union and St. Michael's at 4 and 6 p.m. respectively.
