On September 5, Quigley Ruse was joined by Niagara University Director of Athletics Simon Gray to see the renovations to the Division I student-athlete strength and conditioning center firsthand.

"When I saw the existing room," said Quigley Ruse, "I realized that it could probably be improved to meet the needs of today's students since it hadn't been renovated in quite a while."

According to the strength and conditioning staff and the student-athletes, the modernization of the space has made it much more functional. The room has been opened up to utilize the new floor better, and features new squat racks, benches, bands, kettle bells and more.

"Strength and conditioning is vital to the development of our more than 330 student-athletes," Gray said. "This renovation not only enhances the excellent work of our strength and conditioning coach, Matt Wietlispach and his staff, but showcases an area that is so important to the student-athlete experience. All of our Purple Eagle student-athletes are grateful to Ms. Quigley Ruse for her investment in their success. Her transformational donation culminated in a state-of-the-art facility that is another sign of progress for our department."

The improvements to O'Malley follow recent upgrades to several athletics facilities, including Bobo Field - the home of the baseball program, Niagara Field - the home of the men's and women's soccer, and women's lacrosse programs, and the Gallagher Center atrium.

An official dedication ceremony for the O'Malley Weight Room enhancements will be held on Monday, Nov. 5. Details will be made available at a later date.
