The Canisius men's soccer team closes out the 2018 season Wednesday when it hosts Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Rider in a 4 p.m. contest at the Demske Sports Complex.
Last Time Out
• Berti Fourrier and Noah Amissah both scored and Connor Hayes made one save to lead Manhattan to a 2-0 victory over Canisius last Saturday at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, N.Y.
• After a scoreless first half, Fourrier opened the scoring at the 51:31 mark of the match before Amissah added an insurance marker for the Jaspers in the 88th minute to determine the final margin.
• That would be all the support Hayes would need as he stopped the only shot on goal from the Griffs in the contest, an attempt from freshman Jo Preci in the 60th minute.
• Canisius keeper Bryce Tramuta recorded five saves in goal for the Griffs.
• Manhattan out-shot Canisius by a 25-3 margin in the contest, highlighted by a 12-1 advantage in the first half.
• Preci was credited with two of the Griffs' three shot attempts in the match.
Scouting Rider
• Heading into the final game of the regular season, Rider is playing for its postseason lives as it finds itself in a tie with Manhattan for the sixth and final spot in the upcoming 2018 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship.
• Elliott Otmani, the MAAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, paces the Broncs attack as he leads the league in assists (7) and ranks second on the circuit in points (19).
• Pablo DeCastro has provided a secondary scoring option, ranking second on the squad in goals (5) and points (11).
• Pablo Gatinos has seen a majority of time in goal for the Broncs, posting a 0.97 goals against average and a .745 save percentage in 1,111 minutes of action.
Canisius-Rider Series Notes
• Wednesday's contest serves as the 24th meeting between Canisius and Rider.
• The Broncs own an 11-10-2 edge in the all-time series, but the Griffs have posted a 6-3-2 mark in the last 11 matchups.
• The teams have played to a 1-1 draw in each of their last two meetings, including their most recent matchup last October at Ben Cohen Field in Lawrenceville, N.J. Senior Hunter Walsh scored the lone goal for the Griffs while Elliott Otmani countered for the Broncs.
