The Canisius men's soccer team hosts defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament champion Fairfield Saturday at the Demske Sports Complex.
 
Opening kickoff between the Golden Griffins and Stags is set for 7 p.m. The game will air live on ESPN3.
 
Last Time Out
• Iona scored four unanswered goals to overcome a 1-0 deficit and defeat Canisius, 4-1, back on Sept. 29 at Mazzella Field in New Rochelle, N.Y.
• Sophomore Filippo Tamburini staked the Griffs to a 1-0 lead in the 57th minute with his third goal of the campaign, but the Gaels Thomas Jamett recorded back-to-back tallies to give Iona the lead before Mauro Bravo and Killian Colombie struck just 26 seconds apart to close out the scoring.
• Iona out-shot Canisius by a 29-8 margin on Saturday, highlighted by a 12-1 advantage during the first half.
• The Gaels held a slim 8-6 edge in corner kicks taken.

Scouting Fairfield
• Fairfield enters Saturday's matchup looking to remain undefeated in league play after rallying for a 2-1 victory at Monmouth on Wednesday.
• Diego Casielles leads the Stags attack with eight points on account of a team-high four goals.
• Jack Weiss is second on the team's scoring chart with two goals and two assists for six points.
• Gordon Botterill has played every second in goal for Fairfield this season, posting a 1.43 goals against average and a .698 save percentage in 820 minutes of action.
 
Canisius-Fairfield Series Notes
• Saturday's contest serves as the 31st meeting between the programs.
• Fairfield has controlled the series with the Stags owning a 22-4-4 advantage, but two of the Griffs' four victories have come in their last two meetings.
• Each of the last eight games in the series have all been decided by one-goal margins, including the most recent meeting last September that saw Canisius' Melvin Blair score in the 105th minute to lift the Griffs' to a 3-2 overtime triumph.
