The Niagara men's soccer team is heading back to Hamden for a Wednesday matinee with the Quinnipiac Bobcats. This will be the second time the team has played at Quinnipiac Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium this season, the first being a contest on August 31 against Yale, which saw the Purple Eagles tripped up, 1-0.

Niagara Notes

  • In their last outing, the Purple Eagles (3-12-0, 1-6-0 MAAC) fell 1-0 to the Manhattan Jaspers at home. It was the seventh shutout the team has suffered in their 15 games this season.
  • Luca Pacheco and Mbongeni Tshuma remained tied atop the team charts for most goals scored with four apiece. Pacheco has added three assists for 11 total points, while Tshuma has one assist for nine points.
  • During the outing against Manhattan, goalkeeper Drew Holt saw his first action of the season when he entered the game in the 74th minute. Holt played the final 15:04, making one save and keeping the Jaspers off the board.
 
Across The Pitch: Quinnipiac Bobcats (7-5-2, 5-1-1 MAAC)

  • 7-1-1 in their last nine, the Bobcats have been on a tear since losing four of their first five games of the season. Three of their last five games have gone into overtime, the most recent being a scoreless draw at Fairfield on October 20.
  • Quinnipiac's turnaround at the onset of MAAC play has the Bobcats just three points back of Fairfield for the top spot in the conference standings. They enter the contest with Niagara tied with Marist for second place with 16 points.
  • Eamon Whelan leads all MAAC scorers with 21 individual points (10 G, 1 A). He holds a two-goal advantage over Dominic Laws of Saint Peter's for the conference's top spot.
  • Since first meeting on September 2, 2000, the Purple Eagles have posted just one win in eight outings against Quinnipiac. Their most recent matchup was a 2-0 Bobcats' victory at Niagara Field last season.
