UB football has strong showing on the field and on the airwaves

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The ratings are in and the University at Buffalo football team was not only a winner on the field, but a ratings winner as well.  The Bulls' 31-17 victory at Toledo on Saturday aired locally on WGRZ-TV and drew big ratings.

The game posted a 7.8 rating, with a peak of 11.3. That equates to 75,000 households watching the game. In addition, there were numerous watch parties at establishments around town. It was the highest-rated college football game on local television on Saturday. To put it into perspective, Purdue's upset of Ohio State on Saturday night drew a 3.3 ratings share.

At 7-1, the Bulls are off to their best start since 1959. Buffalo sits atop the Mid-American Conference East Division with a 4-0 record and will host conference-foe Miami (OH) on Tuesday night in a battle for first place in the East Division. The game will air nationally on ESPN2 with kickoff slated at 8 pm.

Watching Buffalo football on television isn't limited to just game days. UB Football Insider with Lance Leipold airs on Thursday nights at 7:30 pm on CW23 (WNLO). The Emmy Award-winning show features game recaps, player profiles and behind-the-scenes stories surrounding UB football.

Fans can also listen to the UB Football Insider radio show on Monday nights at 5:00 pm on ESPN 1520. Hosted by Paul Peck, the show is recorded Mondays at noon at the Santora's Millersport Highway location.

ESPN1520 is the radio home of UB Athletics with Paul Peck and Scott Wilson calling the action on the gridiron. Fans outside the listening area can hear every UB game on the TuneIn app.
