BUFFALO, N.Y. --  Liv LeBaron (Horseheads/Corning Painted Post) recorded her second double-double of the early season with 26 points and 13 rebounds while Grace Licata(Williamsville/Williamsville South) scored a career-high 23 points as Buffalo State raced past Cazenovia in today's Betty Abgott Invitational consolation game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • LeBaron paced the Bengals' offense while chipping in six steals and five assists.
  • Licata finished 9 of 13 shooting from the floor, including 5 of 7 from distance.
  • Katie Villarini (Hamburg/Hamburg) added nine points, four rebounds, three steals and three assists.
  • Buffalo State lead from the opening tip, scoring 13 of the first 16 points to take an 18-5 lead after 10 minutes of play.
  • The Bengals continued their strong defense start to the contest in the second frame by holding the Wildcats to 17 percent shooting as Buffalo State held a 36-14 lead at halftime.
  • Cazenovia shot 45 percent from the field in the second half but could not cut into the deficit as the Bengals cruised to an 82-50 win to claim third place in the Betty Abgott Invitational.
  • Buffalo State shot 42 percent in the game and connected on 15 3-pointers.

  • Jess Vormelker led the Tomcats with 28 points on 7 of 16 shooting from distance. Destiny Johnson chipped in 14 points and 17 rebounds.
  • Jamie Wilcox led the Saxons with 24 points and six rebounds.
