UB football's Tyree Jackson named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS

BUFFALO, NY -- University at Buffalo quarterback Tyree Jackson was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, the league announced. It marks the third time this season the junior signal-caller has won the award.

Jackson accounted for six touchdowns in Buffalo's 51-42 win over Miami (OH) last Tuesday night. He threw for three touchdowns and ran for a career-best three more. Jackson finished 20-of-34 for a season-high 358 yards and three touchdowns. He had touchdown passes of 75, 20 and 10 yards. With his three touchdown runs, he became the first quarterback in the Bulls' FBS era (since 1999) to score three rushing touchdowns in a game. He became just the second quarterback in the country this season to throw for three and rush for three touchdowns in the same game.

It is the fifth time Jackson has earned Player of the Week honors in his career, including the third time this season. He is the first player in school history to win the MAC East Division Offensive Player of the Week Award three times in the same season.

It is the eighth time this season a UB player has won MAC Player of the Week honors. Jackson also won offensive player of the week honors each of the first two weeks. Cornerback Cameron Lewis was named defensive player of the week after his two-interception performance against Temple. Wide Receiver K.J. Osborn was honored after his 188-yard, three-touchdown performance against Eastern Michigan. Linebacker Khalil Hodge has won the award three times on the year.

The Bulls will host Kent State on Tuesday night in the home finale. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 pm.
