NYSP: Three Gerry residents charged with child endangerment

STAFF REPORTS

GERRY -- A report of a child hanging out a second story window has led to charges of child endangerment against three Gerry residents.

According to New York State Police, on Saturday, Troopers responded to a residence in Gerry for a report of a child hanging out of a second story window. Upon arrival, the Troopers found the conditions of the home to be in a deplorable state and unsuitable for living. The child stated he was only leaning out the window to look at a bird and after confirming that he was uninjured, the children were turned over to a relative, pending further investigation by Child Protective Services.

Nikki Coulson, 32, Jacob Atwell, 24, and Benjamin Frost, 37 were all charged with endangering the welfare of a child, processed at SP Jamestown and released with appearance tickets.  All three subjects are scheduled to appear in the town of Gerry Court next month.  Atwell and Coulson were previously arrested in May, 2019 for a nearly identical incident, when the Troopers checked the welfare of a toddler in Route 60 resulting in the discovery of the children living in squalor.
