Falconer man arrested for several crimes following bad check investigation

JAMESTOWN -- A 41-year-old Falconer man was charged today with numerous crimes following a report of a bad check in Ellington.

According to New York State Police, Timothy Lunetta wrote a check in excess of $23,000 for the purchase of a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette and when the check bounced, the complainant contacted the police. Initial attempts to locate Lunetta were unsuccessful until the Troopers received an anonymous tip, locating Lunetta near the Corvette at a Jamestown business.  Lunetta provided a false name to the Troopers but was positively identified by an assisting Trooper upon his arrival to the scene.

Lunetta was placed under arrest and while being searched, a bag containing methamphetamine and two suboxone strips were located in Lunetta's pockets. Lunetta was transported to SP Jamestown where he was processed. Further investigation revealed that there were several active warrants for Lunetta, including a parole warrant out of Niagara County. After processing, Lunetta was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, pending arraignment.

His charges include third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and false personation.
