BUFFALO HEALTHY LIVING: Univera seeks applicants for Summer internships

Univera Healthcare and its corporate parent are seeking a total of about 90 college student interns for Summer 2019 positions at locations in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Utica. The 10-week paid internships are offered through the health insurer's Diversity & Inclusion Summer College Internship Program, and run from June to August 2019. Find details online at UniveraHealthcare.com/Careers.

"To qualify for an internship at Univera, a student must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at the time of the internship," said Brandy Bauza, Univera director of talent acquisition. "Students are encouraged to apply for these competitive internships as soon as possible since positions close as candidates are selected."

Summer internship positions currently available at Univera and its parent company include jobs in finance, information technology, analytics, strategy, clinical, and customer operations. Additional internship positions in marketing, human resources, legal, community health engagement, corporate communications, and more will be available over the next couple of months.

Univera's Diversity & Inclusion Summer College Internship Program is a strategic recruitment tool focused on helping talented undergraduate and graduate students prepare for full time employment opportunities either with the health insurer or elsewhere. Interns learn the soft skills and technical skills necessary to be successful within the workplace.

The program has three main goals:

–  Provide professional career development opportunities to students, helping them gain hands-on work experience to jump start their careers.
–  Help the health insurer develop qualified applicants for future job openings through training, networking opportunities and meaningful work experiences.
–  Attract students from a wide range of cultures, backgrounds and life experiences that represent the diversity of the communities the health insurer serves.

The following statistics show the internship program's growth and success:
–  300+ interns worked between the summers of 2015-2018.
–  40+ interns stayed into the fall and perhaps the spring semester for continued part time work and skill building.
