Former Canisius midfielder Tim Edwards '15 has been named to the roster for the U.S. men's team that will compete in the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship in Langley, British Columbia from Sept. 19-28, 2019, US Lacrosse officials announced on Thursday.

Edwards is the second former Griff to earn an invite to the world indoor championships in as many weeks. Former Canisius defender Dan Coates '11 was named to the Team Canada roster on July 15.

A native of Jamesville, N.Y., Edwards recently completed his third season in the National Lacrosse League, including the past two campaigns as teammates with Coates on the Colorado Mammoth.

In 48 career games, Edwards has recorded five goals and 12 assists to go along with 237 loose balls and 597 faceoff victories. In his first season with the Mammoth in 2018, Edwards posted the fifth best faceoff percentage in the league (.514) as he won a career-best 224 draws.

In four seasons on Main Street, Edwards finished his career tied with current Canisius head coach Mark Miyashita for eighth place on the program's all-time scoring list with 145 career points. His 80 career assists rank the 2012 MAAC Rookie of the Year selection fifth in that category while his 29 helpers during his junior campaign in 2014 are the sixth most by a Griff in a single season.

The U.S. has captured the bronze medal at each of the four previous World Indoor Lacrosse Championships — 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015.

The U.S. team opens its schedule at the 2019 championship Sept. 19 against host and four-time defending champion Canada. The Americans also have pool play games slated against Israel on Sept. 20 and the Iroquois Nationals on Sept. 21.
