Six Purple Eagles Named To MAAC All-Championship Team

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Morgan BaughmanDagny DavidsdottirEmerald EkpitetaMaggie McIntyreJai Moore and Claire Wanzer have all been named to the 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Women's Basketball All-Championship Team, announced by the conference on Thursday.

The teams are comprised of all seniors and other non-returning players from all MAAC member institutions. The decision to include these players comes in light of the cancellation of the 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The 2020 championships were officially cancelled on Thursday, March 12 after the first two days of competition were completed.

Baughman started in both of NU's 2020 MAAC Tournament games. She grabbed seven rebounds and added five points and two steals. Baughman scored a career-high 19 points against Manhattan on Jan. 4 and blocked a career-best three shots at Saint Peter's on Feb. 13. On the season, she averaged 4.9 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game. She finished her career averaging 4.0 points per game and 2.2 rebounds per game.

In Niagara's opening round win against Saint Peter's on March 10, Davidsdottir led the Purple Eagles in scoring with a career-high 16 points. She also made a career-best seven field goals and was named the Tropicana Player of the Game. In her final season with the Purple and White, Davidsdottir averaged a career-high 4.8 points per game and 3.9 rebounds per game. On her career, Davidsdottir averaged 3.3 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per game.

Ekpiteta closed out her three-year career with a double-double, scoring 14 points and bringing down 13 rebounds in Niagara's quarterfinal game against the Rider Broncs. Ekpiteta scored a career-high 26 points versus Saint Peter's on Jan. 23 and recorded four double-doubles on the season. She averaged a career-best 9.3 points per game in her final season, while also adding 6.9 rebounds per game. On her career, Ekpiteta averaged 6.3 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game.

McIntyre was named the MAAC Women's Basketball Sixth Player of the Year thanks to her incredible senior season. In Niagara's quarterfinal game against Rider, McIntyre scored 23 points and made a career-high seven 3-pointers, which is tied for most triples in a MAAC Tournament game. She scored a career-high 26 points at Colgate on Dec. 1 and, against Canisius on Feb. 24, McIntyre became just the fifth player in program history to reach 200 career 3-pointers. She averaged 9.3 points per game and 2.0 rebounds per game on the season. She finished her career averaging 7.3 points per game, 2.3 rebounds per game and 2.4 assists per game.

Moore had a phenomenal final season with the Purple Eagles and was named to the All-MAAC Second Team. Moore scored in double figures in both of Niagara's MAAC Tournament game and scored in double figures in 26 games throughout the season. She was fourth in the conference in scoring, averaging 16.0 points per game. In Niagara's victory over Oakland on Nov. 25, Moore became the 25th player in Niagara women's basketball history to reach 1,000 career points. She scored a career-high 32 points against Monmouth on Jan. 18 and sank a career-best seven 3-pointers against Fairfield on Feb. 6. Moore closed out her career averaging 12.6 points per game and 2.9 rebounds per game.

After battling injuries for the majority of the season, Wanzer was able to appear in both of Niagara's MAAC Tournament games. She played in 13 games in her final season and appeared in 46 career games. She finished her three-year career averaging 1.2 points per game and 0.7 rebounds per game.
